The ingredients needed to make Sago Vada:
  1. Take 100 gms Sago/ Sabudana -
  2. Make ready 60 gms Groundnuts
  3. Make ready 1 medium boiled potato
  4. Make ready 1 tbsp flax seed powder
  5. Get to taste pepper & cumin seeds
  6. Take to taste Salt
  7. Prepare as needed Oil for brushing

Sabudana Vada also called 'Sago Vada'. Sago or Sabundana or Javvarisi Vada is usually prepared during Navarathri. This is a popular and traditional snack from Maharashtra. Soak the sago in the buttermilk for half an hour.

Instructions to make Sago Vada:
  1. Soak sago for 4-6 hours, take the soaked sago and grind. preferably not in to a paste.
  2. Take a pan, and roast the groundnuts.
  3. Take boiled potato, peel, and mash it with the ground sago.
  4. Grind the roasted ground nuts in the blender, in to granules not very fine.
  5. Mix all these ingredients, add in the flaxseed, pepper cumin seeds and salt.
  6. Take some in hand and make a flattened patties shape as in the pic posted.
  7. Take non stick pan and and just brush them on both sides slightly.
  8. Put them on simmer and let them cook until slight brown,cover with a lid so that it's cooked in steam well, since oil used here is very less.
  9. Sago vadas are ready in very less oil, to be served hot with green mint chutney.

Sago Vada is a simple grain free snack that can be served with plain homemade yogurt for people who are fasting on Janmashtami day. Its a crunchy snack that's crispy on the outside and soft and chewy. Then squeeze out the water from sago. Mix sago, chopped onion, green chillies, coriander, chilli powder, salt, add gram flour to it. Boil potato and mash it and add sago and also add grind paste.
