Hey everyone, it’s me, Dave, welcome to our recipe page. Today, I’m gonna show you how to prepare a distinctive dish, fruit loaf. One of my favorites. This time, I’m gonna make it a little bit unique. This will be really delicious.

Fruit loaf This easy fruit loaf is deliciously moist and full of bursts of fruity flavour. Why not enjoy a slice with a cup of tea. Fruit loaf is a traditional (some might say old fashioned) bake that I love with a cup of tea.

Fruit Loaf is one of the most well liked of recent trending foods in the world. It’s appreciated by millions every day. It’s easy, it’s fast, it tastes delicious. Fruit Loaf is something that I have loved my entire life. They are fine and they look fantastic.

To begin with this particular recipe, we must first prepare a few components. You can have fruit loaf using 6 ingredients and 4 steps. Here is how you can achieve it.

The ingredients needed to make Fruit Loaf:
  1. Prepare 12 oz Dried fruit (mixed fruit or any dried fruit & citrus peel)
  2. Prepare 1/4 pint boiling water
  3. Take 1 tsp orange essence
  4. Take 1 large egg
  5. Take 2 oz Demerara Sugar plus a sprinkling
  6. Prepare 6 oz Self Raising Flour

You can freeze an entire loaf, wrapped well in baking paper and foil. Line a loaf pan with baking paper. Remove from the element and leave to cool. Then add sifted flour, bicarbonate of soda and spices and mix until well combined.

Steps to make Fruit Loaf:
  1. Put fruit(&peel) in large mixing bowl. Pour on boiling water and add orange essence. Mix through. Leave to soak minimum 30mins upto 2 hours.
  2. Preheat oven 160°fan. Line 2lb loaf tin. I use liners, saves time.
  3. Add sugar and beaten egg to fruit. Mix through. Add flour, mix through. Add to tin and level top. Sprinkle with Demerara sugar. Cook for 50mins. Test with skewer should come out clean.
  4. Leave in tin for about 10mins. I leave the liner on the loaf. When cool wrap in foil. Will keep for about a week. Good as it is or with butter.

Put the fruit pulp, water, sugar and butter into a large saucepan and bring to a boil. Lightly beat the egg and quickly stir it through the fruit mixture. Really easy even for a novice like me. For a bit of variation I ice the top with a simple vanilla icing. Pour over the tea and cover the bowl.
